Commonwealth Fusion Systems raises $1 billion, now holds ~30% of all fusion industry capital
Commonwealth Fusion Systems, the MIT spinout developing the SPARC compact tokamak, announced a $1 billion funding round from institutional investors including pension funds and sovereign wealth funds. CFS now accounts for approximately 30% of all capital raised in the fusion sector globally, and the funds will support construction of the company''s first commercial plant in Virginia targeting early-2030s operation.
