Hubble tension hits 6-sigma — the cosmological model has a serious problem
The gap between the universe's locally measured expansion rate (~73 km/s/Mpc) and the value derived from the cosmic microwave background (~67 km/s/Mpc) has widened to roughly six standard deviations across independent techniques. Separate work this week identified internal inconsistencies in the ΛCDM framework itself. The discrepancy now exceeds the threshold physicists use to declare a discovery, but what has been discovered is, so far, only that something is wrong.
