First stellar-mass black hole found inside Omega Centauri
Combining 20 years of Hubble archival astrometry with new James Webb infrared observations, astronomers identified oMEGACat BH-2 — a stellar-mass black hole orbiting a visible companion star in Omega Centauri with a 94-year period, the longest black-hole binary on record. Models had predicted thousands such objects in the cluster; this is the first one found.
