A CGAS gene variant in long-lived families links muted inflammation to healthspan

Genome analysis of 212 long-lived sibships in the Leiden Longevity Study identified rare protein-altering variants in the CGAS gene. Participants from long-lived families appeared to carry only one active copy, producing a dampened innate inflammatory response. Killifish validation studies are planned.
